Oceania Adventures Begin Part 2

This was my backpack:

As I was saying.
I received a very warm welcome! Will (2 yrs old) and Emma (4 yrs old) had the biggest smiles and I'm pretty sure Will gave me a hug straight away. But I'm fairly certain this has to do with the fact that I had brought them a couple bags of goldfish.
Since then I have gained two new shadows. :) After reaching home and getting the grand tour, the kids were allowed to have a few goldfish. They both would literally run into my room every time they were about to eat one to show me the goldfish. Haha! Then, as I was unpacking, they would ask me about each item I pulled out. Thus the sunglasses:

After showering, and a very entertaining dinner with the kids (I played "Ro-shampoo" or as others call it, Ro Sham Bo, with William. If I won (which was most often based on the prediction that he would always decide on scissors), he had to take a bite of dinner. A very effective method), the kids went to bed (I was specially requested to be the tucker-inner), I caught up with Liz and Lyle until my brain couldn't function well. It was then good night and I was soon fast asleep.

Sunday, June 16
I slept really well and woke up refreshed at 8 am. Being Sunday, we had a relaxing morning drinking coffee (well, the adults did), playing hide-and-seek, reading books, coloring, and just being silly. We all went to church, where I met a few of their friends, and afterward came home for Will's nap. It was so cute. As we got into the car, Emma observed: "There are three girls in our family!" Apparently, I am now a Wetherston. :)
After lunch and during Will's nap, we girls played Go Fish and Matching. After his nap, I read a few books to them and we decided to go for a walk . We passed a playground and walked around a lake while watching Ducks and other native birds wade and waddle. Time was also spent racing each other, playing hide and seek in a fairly open field (At one point Will was trying to hide behind a bush and kept falling into the bush as he struggled to get over...quite hilarious), and looking for spiders and spider webs :/

After the kids ate dinner and had family devotions, I read them a book I had brought for them and they went to bed. Liz and I ordered Thai take-out and sat talking for a few hours. For the last three years, most of our communication has been through email so it's been so nice to be able to chat freely at anytime and catch up on each others' lives. Technology is great, but there is nothing better than face-to-face.
It's super late now, so I'm going to sleep. Good Morning to you LA and Happy Father's Day, Dad! I hope you enjoy what I left for you. :)

Australian vocab:
Bikkie means cookie.
Fete is a fair-type event.

  1. I love all of the details! I loved your walk. It sounded like so much fun. We looked at some great old photos of you today during our Fathers Day slide show. I will do you the service of not posting them on Facebook but will keep them for your return. love
