Two things to note as I begin a new traveling series:
1. I have a new co-author. I'm sure you will know when he makes his entrances.
2. There probably won't be pictures. The wifi at our hotel is suuuuper slow. Reference my Facebook or Instagram for visuals. :)

It must be me. I am a pro at cutting it close; testing my luck when it comes to catching transportation. It used to be purely my fault and I will admit to not planning properly at first. Mostly because I am convinced that I can do so much more in a small amount of time. Story of my life. But I have learned and am so much better. Which is a very good thing because this trip has been full of delays.
Our trip started with a snag when it took us almost an hour to get an uber to take us to LAX. We were denied three times by uber drivers, two who pulled up I'm front of our apartment, saw our luggage, then drove away. Apparently, they now have to take a certain test in order to do this. Some have and some haven't. Unfortunately, the app didn't differentiate between the two, so we learned to call the uber driver and ask them immediately. Our fourth attempt was successful, and we had a pleasant drive talking to our friendly uber driver.
W: I don't like the uber thing one bit. And I'm going to fight it up to the highest levels of the justice system—social media. I will also write very sternly worded correspondences with my local and state politicians if I can even see the pen and paper from being so blind with fury. It's ruined my trip so far—not sure I'll even go now.
I had been nervous that the delay would create a stressful check-in, but thankfully there was no line and security went fast enough that we had time to spare. A delightful surprise came when the window seat next to me remained empty, and Walt and I had the entire row to ourselves for the ten and a half hour flight. After dinner and two movies (I watched Lion and it was really really good!), we settled in to "sleep." I must've taken up five different positions throughout those few hours, so it was obviously not great sleep. But I did get some rest before being awoken to a small breakfast.
W: After much debate over the uber thing, I reluctantly decided to move forward with the trip. I'll never use uber again, mark my words! But I'm happy Jill was able to knock me unconscious with her makeup bag and drag my lifeless body through security and onto the plane—pretty girls could get away with murder! Anyway, it's been a much better trip than anticipated; Virgin Atlantic has purple lights in their cabin. Technology is really advancing! You also don't have to pull down those stubborn, outdated window shades. Now I can tint my plane window TO THE DEGREE I WANT with the push of a button. Finally, an airplane line I can trust!
We always enjoy reading your posts, and your co-author is very good at communicating his feelings - maybe too good. :) Leave it to Jill to have an exciting trip even before she leaves to the airport.
