And so our journey begins! After completing last minute chores/packing, and a surprise good-bye visit from Tracy, Joel, Adam, and Gillian, our parents dropped us off at the Flyaway just in time to miss the 2:30 bus (definitely my fault). Fortunately, it only took us half an hour to reach LAX and lines (queues :) ) were minimal so we reached our Gate with 20 minutes till boarding (4:50). The flight was long (about 10 hours) and uneventful. We watched a few movies and despite the uncomfortable position, managed to sleep a couple hours. Our plane landed quite nicely around 11:50am-London time and we began the second half of our journey: finding the Drion's apartment. I'm sorry to say that nothing interesting happened here either because the directions given to us were very straightforward and easy to read. We hopped on the tube for about an hour, briefly switched to another tube and walked easily to our final destination.
It has been so nice to relax and meet Donna along with her two year old Carys, who has already provided us with plenty of entertainment. My favorite Carys moment so far was when she turned to me and asked if my "dad" would like to see her toy. By "dad" she meant Stephen! haha! She is extremely outgoing and immediately claimed me as her friend the moment I walked into their apt.
So far, we:
-Had a great chat with Donna
-Accompanied her and Carys to the park (stopping for coffee on the way....and by the way, you order black or white coffee...white includes cream)
-then to the grocery store where Carys showed us around
-and read books to Carys.
Stephen is currently playing Play-Dough with Carys. (Can you sense we've made a new friend?)
So far, we are managing to stay awake and busy. The plan is to stay up till 8:30 or 9, conk out, and get a full night's rest. We haven't taken pictures yet, because there isn't much to take of, but pics will be coming!
