One thing I've been wanting to do for awhile now is...(did you think I would say blog?) nope, it's to read C.S.Lewis. I've started reading Mere Christianity, but what I really want to read is the Narnia Series. You would think, that since I am going to be an elementary teacher, I would have read them by now...but I haven't.
A couple days ago was Kelley's birthday and after a delicious brunch, we were relaxing on the couch, enjoying the view from her new apt and somehow, the topic of heaven came up and Kelley decided to read us her favorite passage from "The Last Battle" by C.S.Lewis. She has a wonderful reading voice, bringing the story to life, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. :) One special phrase in the last chapter is when Aslan calls the children to follow him "onward and upward."
As time travels forward, carrying me quickly through this life and closer to heaven, I am journeying onward. As I grow closer to God, through His Word, through prayer, and by interacting with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I am also journeying upward.
Although my main intention in starting this blog is to journal about my travels in Europe this summer, I'd like to think that as we travel onward through Europe, we will also travel upward toward Christ.
I am the kind of person that has high aspirations of keeping a journal throughout my entire trip. Several times I have tried to do this, and most often I am good at starting, but rarely finish. I am hoping that this blog will be a type of journal for me. I want to both keep you informed, should you desire to be, while also documenting our travels. So whether or not anyone decides to read this, I will try my best to keep the blog updated. :)
Well, I should really get back to work. It's funny, and kinda sad, how I get so much done when I have school to do, just not the school part. Everything else sounds so much more fun when there is a paper to write...back to it. :)
